In a powerful move aimed at strengthening institutional partnerships and fostering developmental progress, the Ag. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Aminu Ado, accompanied by the University Librarian Dr Ukashatu Hamza, and the Registrar Dr. Musa Ajiya, paid a strategic courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Rt. Hon. (Dr) Alhaji Bello Massari, CFR, in Abuja.
The visit, held on Wednesday 15th May 2025, marks a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to solidified relationship with important personalities in Nigeria. It is also meant to re-assure the global community of the University’s commitment to promote infrastructural transformation and academic excellence.
Rt. Hon. (Dr) Alhaji Massari, CFR, a former Governor of Katsina State and former Speaker of the lower House of National Assembly, and now Chairman of TETFund, warmly received the University ’s delegate reaffirming his unflinching support for the institution.
Described as a mentor, a father figure, and a confidant by the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Alhaji Massari’s, CFR, enduring legacy of leadership and integrity continues to inspire the University’s bold vision for progress. The meeting, deeply symbolic and strategic, was centered on exploring avenues for infrastructural expansion, research funding, and sustainable development initiatives under the TETFund mandate.
Speaking during the visit, the Vice-Chancellor expressed profound appreciation for the Chairman’s longstanding guidance and pledged to translate his visionary blueprint into tangible growth for FUDMA. “Our University is on the cusp of transformation. With the right partnerships and support, especially from TETFund under the chairmanship of Rt. Hon. (Dr) Alhaji Massari, CFR, the horizon is bright,” he said.
The Vice Chancellor added that Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) is today being challenged by insecurity occasioned by high incidences of banditry and kidnapping, power/electricity outage that makes not only life unbearable to staff and students but also deter the university to fully relocate to take charge of its Main Campus situated 20km away from its take off site. Other challenges mentioned include, burglary and vandalisation of the University properties by some undesirable elements.
The Vice Chancellor appealed for Government intervention through the establishment of Military Barrack in the main campus neighbour, enhance the perimeter fencing and the provision for more logistics support in the like of long shuttle Buses for the conveyance of students and staff from their place of abode to the Main Campus and to University Teaching Hospital situated in Katsina.
In his response, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Alhaji Aminu Bello Massari, CFR, commended the new Vice-Chancellor’s dynamism, foresight, and commitment to institutional excellence, assuring him of TETFund’s willingness to support projects that align with national educational goals and innovation-driven academia. He specifically assured FUDMA of the TETFUND’s readiness to support, among other things, some selected universities – FUDMA inclusive, with solar energy to cushion their power outage and other related challenges.
As Federal University Dutsinma charts a new course toward modernization and global competitiveness, this courtesy visit stands as a testament to the power of mentorship, shared vision, and purposeful leadership. The university community looks ahead with optimism, knowing that the seeds sown today will blossom into academic greatness tomorrow.
